Good to know
Broke the gauge on your still? It happens to the best of us, and this replacement temperature gauge gets you reading temperatures again. A working gauge is how you know what's happening inside the copper. Without one, every run is guesswork.
How do we match the right replacement temperature gauge to your still?
We've used many different gauge models over the years, so we match each replacement to the still it's going on. After you purchase, please email us the order number of your still or the name the order was placed under. We'll make sure the gauge we send fits your still.
- Removing the old gauge: You may need to loosen a tiny screw on the side of the brass nut that holds the gauge. Once it's loose, the old gauge should come free.
- Installing the new one: Seat the new gauge in the nut and snug the small screw back down so it sits firmly. Don't overtighten.
- Why it matters: Temperature tells you where you are in a run, from foreshots and heads through hearts and tails. Accurate readings mean better cuts.
- Protect it: Let the still cool before you handle the gauge, keep the dial dry when cleaning and store it carefully between runs.
A still is a lab, and the gauge is one of its key instruments. Once yours is back in place, you can watch the temperature, adjust your heat and repeat the runs that worked. Questions about removal or fit? Contact us.
