Good to know
We designed our 6 gallon copper moonshine still with a 4 inch quick-clamp cap and ball valve drain around convenience. The wide clamp-on cap opens fast for loading and cleaning, and the ball valve drain lets you empty the pot without tipping it. It's cut from 20 oz., 22 gauge copper that we buy directly from Paul Revere Copper Co., never roofing copper that contains lead.
Can this copper still run on electric heat?
Yes. You can add a 110 volt electric option for $199.00. Just ask us. Electric heat gives you repeatable settings, which makes it much easier to compare one run with the next.
- Quick-clamp cap: a 4 inch opening for easy filling and a thorough scrub between runs.
- Ball valve drain: lets you empty spent wash in a controlled way, which saves your back.
- 6 gallon size: easy for beginners to manage and capable as a dedicated spirit still.
- Copper chemistry: copper reacts with sulfur compounds in the vapor, which is part of why distillers have relied on it for generations.
Every run is an experiment you control. You choose the heat, read the temperatures and decide where the cuts fall. Owning a still is legal in the US, and it's just as useful for distilled water, essential oils or fuel alcohol. Producing spirits requires federal TTB permits.
