Good to know
Our 10 gallon essential oils still is chemistry you can smell. It's based on our 10 gallon whiskey still, with upgrades for plant material. A perforated plate holds your solids above the heating element. Two 3-inch clean outs, one above the plate and one below, make loading and cleaning easier. A 4-inch quick-clamp cap seals the top.
Will this 10 gallon essential oils still run on a 110 volt outlet?
Yes. The PID controller and 5500 watt heating element run at 2750 watts on 110 volt. Plug the same controller into 220 volt and it runs the full 5500 watts, with no internal adjustment needed.
- Grain-on capable: The perforated plate also lets you use it as a grain-on still, keeping solids off the element.
- Easy drain: A 3/4-inch ball valve drain empties the pot when the run is done.
- Thumper for alcohol work: A 1-inch line arm leads to a 2.8 gallon thumper with 3 fruit ports. From there, a 1/2-inch outlet runs to a 2.8 gallon condenser with a 3/8-inch cooling coil and hose connections.
- Proofing parrot included: Float a hydrometer in the parrot to check proof as the distillate flows.
For oils, load fresh or dried botanicals on the plate, keep the heat steady and separate the oil from the hydrosol as it collects. Then adjust your load and temperature next time and compare. Making alcohol requires a federal TTB permit. Have questions about setup? Contact us.
